Great Western Beach & Slope Bar
Great Western is one of the town beaches of Newquay and is credited as the place that the Cornish surf scene started in the 1950s. The beach is tucked away behind the Great Western Hotel and is not immediately visible to the visitor so a system of signage was required to increase awareness and visitor numbers. Pictorial signage advertising the beach and its amenities was developed for remote locations around Newquay. This was supported by directional and information signage located adjacent to the beach to increase visitor flow and interest. Strong imagery and colours were used which continue through to the beachfront bar and kitchen – the Slope.
